FIXED OC Being Fucksticks Again

Howdy doody folks. Came home from work today to find my characters dead in my Luna house. ALL doors and teleporters in my house have always been and still are set to CO-OWNERS. I even double-checked. Yet SOMEHOW NotOSIAccurate of OC got a released skeletal dragon into a secure area of my house, killing both of my characters. What an accomplishment! I hope you're fucking proud.

Thanks, Rook. House customization and deco are kind of my thing. See, I like to be productive with my time and do things that make the server better (or at least look nice!), not exploit and cause grief for players on the server, which is literally all that Goober ever does.

Well, after I finish saving money to get my template and gear sorted, I'll have to save up for a house like that and see if you can do some design/decoration for me. My houses all end up being ugly squares that are more utilitarian than anything else.

I can't join in on the Goober-hate since my interactions have always been fine with him, but if I can help you replace anything you lost please let me know and I will do what I can.

Alright so our investigation is complete. Here is how players are currently able to get past doors they do not have access to.


So what I did next was jump on real UO to test out a few things. First I tested out what happens if you release a pet inside an Open To The Public house. I was curious to see if it would auto eject the pet to under the sign. It does not, the pet remains and will attack whoever is inside.

Next I decided to see how ghosts and doors should interact. Interestingly this is where I found out that on Atlantic if I had the access level I could walk through the door. HOWEVER. If I did not have the access level it simply would not let me past.

So our bug here is that ghosts should not be able to walk through doors anymore, if they do not have the appropriate access level. This is something they must have recently fixed and this issue would exist on any shard running ServUO code.

So now all that aside lets get down to the nitty gritty. I would be hesitant to call this an exploit. In the past it was a perfectly legitimate way to troll people on UO. It seems they fixed it and we simply never got around to it, because no one every knew. I would definitely say that Goober did troll you and was wrong for doing so. It seems it was simply done for someone's own sick enjoyment.

I would next like to point everyone to https://trueuo.com/index.php?thread...-will-and-will-not-interact-with-players.242/ which I first wrote when luring Orc Brutes to Luna to afk kill people was a common way people liked to troll others.

I am interested in having a discussion in regards to the rules and how we should be applying them. That being said lets keep any posts after this one civil. A bug was identified and it will be fixed.

We will be fixing this issue and @Brosephine will get credit for bringing this to our attention.

Sounds to me like the programmers need to fix these BUGS and make our houses secure again.

The few jerks we have left in the game make me glad I've parked my house out on the edge of nowhere...
If you see the jerks at the PvP swarm, make sure to return the favors they've dealt you... every time you see them. LOL

It seems (even though you blanked out his name) that GOOBER was very helpful to you in determining whether or not this was an issue. I think a player should be punished for trolling someone in their own home. I was not sitting AFK at Luna Bank or somewhere else in Trammel. I was not in Felucca. I learned from past experience that on this server, those are not wise places to sit AFK. This is an entirely different circumstance. I had set all of my doors and teleporters to be private, meaning no one but me should be able to get in. I understand that this is the issue you will be working to correct. Yet Goober, knowing of the existence of this issue, decided to EXPLOIT IT (verb, 2nd definition: https://www.dictionary.com/browse/exploit?s=t ) and gain access to a secure area of my home with the sole purpose of killing my characters. Dan, he had no intention of being "helpful" to you or to the server and he couldn't care less about getting a reward for reporting a bug. As I've said before, if he DID care about either of those two things, he could have just used his own accounts, his own characters, and his own houses to post a bug report about this, notifying you of the issue.

This was a purely malicious decision made by Goober that, hmmmm... how did you put it? Was "overly aggressive" or "exploited mechanics to harass other players." So it sounds to me like you should intervene as the person in charge of this server.

You are right. I had no intent of fixing this issue with being able to pass through doors, because it was never fixed over the years that I played on RealUO so I figured it was part of the game mechanics. Had I known it was going to get me in trouble I would have reported it as I have with mechanics in the game before, if you think I would be willing to throw away my time here on Heritage for a great laugh against your rage, you must think quite highly of yourself because it is not worth it.. I enjoy Heritage and if Dan does decide to fix this as he has stated than great good on him and Im quite impressed UO finally fixed it themselves as well.

Your home is not a safe place, you should know that by now.. no where is. Like dan said he is hands off in these situations in regards to players trolling other players.. its going to be fixed and you're going to be rewarded so i think its funny you're still trotting around trying to get me in trouble.. feel free to keep trotting around and crying in G chat over and over again. I enjoy it and so do many others..
