Heritage In-game economy - What can we do to improve it?

Agreed, neither ingots leathers and woods.

If you fix a price on itens, it will do more harm than good. Or the item will be too expensive (So the players wont trade with each other, because there will be no one wanting to pay that price), or item will be too cheap and the player who get it wont sell for this price for others players.
Either way this will decrease the commerce betwen players.

About the housing system you could put some type of tax, and i know the decay, but 6 months its too long i think.

About resource gathering it is always a hard question, i always play on shards that have antimacro system, but usually they have a lot of people in it. Shards with a small player base i dont know what is the best solution. I dont like the idea to spawn monsters randomly when gathering (just because you can build a template that can handle PVM even afk), so it will not be 100% solved.

Dan what do you think are the problems regard economy on heritage?

@nerv I 100% agree with you. really dont wanna see resources on a gold vendor.. My BOD vendor would be hella stocked right now if gathering materials weren't such a pain in the ass.. Im gathering 1000s of BODs for just a few select ones, to keep Powder Of Fort & No Break Tali's on the vendor and this is using up the majority of my resources.. I would love to be able to fill large bods.. but the resources have been less than fun to collect.. with a captcha system throwing me in jail from time to time, (very annoying, and very happy to see it may be gone soon) and the RNG.. it seems like every damn spot i mine is dull copper.. and thats at 105 mining.. (also annoying, when i mine for hours, and only get a small amount of the ore i need.. )

Honestly @Dan with the captcha gone, more people will gather.. at least 1 more will.. me.. im sure more people will too... more frequently. SO selling them would more than likely not be a good idea.. the next issue with gathering is the RNG.. I seen no mention what so ever in your reply about the old way of gathering, where that tree always drops frostwood, or that mining spot always drops bronze ore. I seem to remember reading somewhere that you can switch between the new RNG gathering system, and the old system? to mine up 1000 copper ore, will take hours.. and hours... and hours.. (Hours and hours and hours of mining is not fun) alleviate the pain man, give us the old gathering system, so we can mine what we need and get back to the fun stuff.. more ore.. more crafting.. more fun.I would rather mine my ore this way, than to buy it from a vendor.. REMOVE resources from all systems other than crafting.. CUB, Collections, Ect. RNG is rampant in todays MMOs.. and NO ONE LIKES IT! TBH.. and i cant believe im saying this.. But i would rather see the captcha stay, and the old way of gathering come back.. just my 2 copper.

I agree with Nerv put a small house tax almost like a property tax would e good for the economy i say that and have 8 homes lol so don't make it to pricey hehe. Also i think keeping the vendor fee low is a good thing it encourages people to put up vendors.

So we have made some fundemental changes to the game as noted in the patch logs. Those changes have been made in regards to comments posted here. If you hate a change please post about it here as this is the perfect opportunity to have direct influence over Heritage.

Current changes that are live:
  • The CAPTCHA system was 100% removed.
  • NPCs no longer buy items from players.

Current ideas that may be implemented:
  • A Sovereign merchant which sells Sovereigns at a markup above what players would sell them for. (15,000 - 20,000gp per)
  • Enable the Honesty virtue system:
    • This system has always been coded but has never been turned on. Now that vendors do not purchase items maybe we will.
    • Honesty gives you discounts at NPC merchants. The higher your rank in Honesty, the bigger your discount. The discount is applied to the total purchase. The discount is not shown in the merchant window, but you will see a system message once you make the purchase.

I would still like to point out that AFK gathering is still against the rules. We will still do random spot checks. If caught all resources on your character/in bank/ in the house they are recalling to will be deleted.

Accounts will be marked and if caught more than once you risk a ban.

No ifs ands or buts. If you quit Heritage because you are caught breaking the rules so be it. I don't care.

I do not hate this. It did come as a surprise, but not hating it. Might actually spark more trade on the player vendors.

I would suggest one thing: some items prices never decay, but I thought that the vendors would slowly lower prices if nobody was buying because the price was too high. This would simulate a real-world situation. Since players are unable to sell to them, this could not be abused. There should be a floor price, then the price can rise as high as it wants as long as people are still buying, but should drop back down toward the floor price if there are no purchases made.

If a house tax is imposed I'd like to see player vendors help offset said tax to promote more player merchants and do it in a way that sales volume is accounted. This way players must be successful merchants to earn some sort of reprieve from the tax. Competitive market of supply and demand. Let's say my vendors are the cheapest, then other players may buy from me and Mark-Up and Resell, then supply will kick in if I'm persistent in restocking, forcing others to keep up with the supply as the market floods prices drop, competition grows to find other markets, while leaving old markets open to those who persist. Example: Bags of Sending and Powder of Translocation, if I persist to sell it for less eventually I will corner that market.
Some players craft, some just prefer to hunt, Some may prefer to be merchants.

Certain NPCs should not have had their sell option removed. The jeweler for instance. Who in their right mind is doing to go out of their way to buy jewels off players when the vendor there still sells them? It's not even worth the time it takes to add them to a loot filter anymore. That does little to established players but newer players who sold jewels for extra gold get the short end of the stick.

The cost in the shop is so low that it doesn't justify trying to sell them. You can buy enough to imbue entire sets for such little cost. Unless the price is hiked up on that vendor I can't see it being worthwhile.

The same could be said for any resource the NPCs sell. I believe they are also worth Clean Up Britannia points and at a higher exchange than the gold cost per gem. Plenty of uses for Gems outside of just selling to an NPC.

So will all vendors be stocking all colored ingots as well? You can get by on 90% of imbues with just these gems (as long as you don't need max intensity) whereas I don't know too many people who use uncolored ingots or regular leather in their suits. Comparing the two different resources is radically different. Also if all gems turn in at .3 CuB points then the weighting on them is off as diamonds are worth the same as the other gems at that rate.

The NPCs balance price with the buy and sell of items. Like Luna Carpenter, was selling wood for 35 gps, and buying for 18 i guess. After someone sell a lot wood the price will go down. After the change, how it will work? The prices will always go higher and higher?

NPCs never lowered the price of their goods based on what you sold them.

NPCs start off with a flat rate on an item. This flat rate never goes lower. If it sells out the next time it restocks the price can slightly increase. The next time around if it does not sell out it will revert lower until it hits the flat rate again.

None of this was changed with the recent edits.

Problem is is you cant buy sovs with gold the game will turn into a pay to win game. and people with lota spar money can hijack prices and sell them for whatever they want to no balance .....with sov's for gold there be be a form of balance to the sovs and set a round about price.want be asses trying to sell 100 for 10 million any more .... dont need to be a pay to win shard every 1 will need some items at some point.... rather be a bonding potion or a stone to store skill . this needs to be some type balance to the sovs....""thats all i gota say about that" games is like a box of chocklets never know what ya gonna do the next week...

with no sov for gold people can buy there way up the letter.. and can sell to non clan member for 10 million gold for a measly 100 sov .i know no names but 3 people have allready tryed to rip me off this way.please make some form of sov balance.. dont let the rich win so the people with out extra cash lose out intrest on even wanting to play this game .... less peopls on a server will hurt every 1....and they will get tired not having what they need because they cant afford a mesealy sov.. "you all know i have a point " people will eventualy leave because tyhey cant buy important items they need.. unless they can buy what ever price some 1 wants to sell for lets say i have 5 and u need them i can sell them for what ever i want 100 million for 5 sovs i have ... thats not balance in any way or form ...think on that....were befor there was a form of balance .you could buy items from the store witch gold if you did not like the prices people was charging for a sov..that was taking away from us .so where the balance now???? there are people that dont have a family that can afford to buy all the time and other that have to feed there kids/families befor spending money on a game...so sov for gold would put that balance back.even""""" if it was a SOV action system..were people buy from whom ever sells for the lest amount of gold..."""

It was originally proposed to create a vendor that sells them for 15,000gp each. That way people could still sell them for the old exchange rate of 1 equaling 10,000gp.

I'd be most interested in a broker npc being placed at banks which is for buying and selling sovs to and from other players. Similar to how the NPCs you can rent at new magincia function.
