So i sick my pet on Mob1, let my pet take a few bites, then sick my pet on Mob2.. I let him work on Mob2, but when Mob2 Flees.. the pet switches back to Mob1 and lets Mob2 flee.. is this working as intended? it just seems weird.. i mean, im telling him to kill.. not scare it away
Yeah, my pets do 180's now I noticed too. I have them on Guard, so they chase the mob closest to me. Then a mob close to it attacks it and it switches aggro. Then in a split second goes back to guarding me. Back and forth. Almost kills me every time.

Mine was doing something simular at the Bunny Shaman, but the mob it left its original target for, were attacking other players. for a minute i thought my pet was randomly attacking other players! cuse i couldnt see the little bunnies very well, cuse the color was too close to the color of the ground
I dont think that is Bug tho. You set your pet into all guard so its guard you from every mob whos aggroing on you or our pet. Its normal and always works that way

I did a little test on this myself and my pet (a Nightmare) seemed quite confused as well. I had it surrounded by 5-6 mobs and it constantly seemed to react to each mob that became aggressive toward it.
So:
Pet directed to attack Mob A and it responds correctly
Mob B sees pet nearby and aggro’s on Pet, Pet turns toward Mob B as if it is switching targets
This continues as other Mobs in area become aggressive on Pet
The observed behavior is that pet does not stay focused on the initial Mob A whom I instructed him to attack, and Pet is spinning all around looking confused and attacking things.
In another case though, a different pet type (Dragon) stayed focused on a single target the entire time, despite being surrounded by mobs, although, I didn’t explicitly tell it to attack anything, nor guard me. The mobs just aggo’d onto the dragon.
Definitely some scenarios that need looked at to figure out what is going on. Could be the guard command, maybe pet type...lots of variables here.

I think including Pet type in your report would be helpful.

No, guard is supposed to make the pet aggro the mob closest to the player, not peel off to mobs further away just because it was aggroed. Should ignore those. This is completely related. Its doing the same thing as "All Kill". Guard mode just auto "all kill's" the mob based on proximity to player.
@raveX
I think the reason your dragon stuck it out is because it didn't have conflicting player commands.
My pet will attack what ever mob I am casting on. But when mobs run and I am fighting multiple ones I can just follow it and the pet will attack it as it is the closest to me.
