So here is how this was tested. Not sure if it specific to one item.
1. Borrowed a Commodity Deed Box from another player.
2. I am a Co-Owner of a house we are standing in.
3. I "Secured" the Box on the floor - secured for Friends.
4. I try to Release it - "You are not able to release this, as you are not the one who placed it."
