I have two different pets that I am confident are bugged. I have brought this up several times on discord before my son went off to collage and we moved. Since the Thanksgiving event of last year I have brought this up to the other players on discord, but no one really has an answer.

I have a neco/mage nightmare that will only lose Mage points on death. I have spent a stupid amount of time trying to gain these points back. and I cant even gain .01 mage back.

I also have a triton Chiv/AI triton that only loses resisting spells. I have read up on how to train this skill up and it does not work. I have tried similar steps but using different monsters with the same results.

Using whispering also does nothing to assist in these skill gains.

Training Resist Spells question

I realize this is probably a really dumb question, but i'd rather look dumb than dead lol. Can't i just make a guild and cast spells on my GD to raise his resist spells skill? Or would he aggro and eat me or something? Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

Pets being nerf for such a long time is frustrating. If they are not bugged something needs to be changed. A necro mage tamer with a pimped out pet does way less damage then a samp. Since a mage/pet combo does less damage then many other templets, I dont see why training a pet can be made a bit easier.

I have been able to gain skill on my triton by leaving Zeal and spending a million gold to create a new guild. This allowed me to have two of my char in the same guild. Then I used a discord pet to attack triton while I casted clumsy on it. This is a very round about way of get skills to raise, but it did work. I am now having my discord pet attacking my nightmare Necro Mage. I will report back my findings.

So this is the only way I have been able to gain skills back with my pets. I guess the skill gain itself is not broken, but I dont think this is the original intent of the game designers. one would think spending a day in blood dungeon fighting barons would be an effective way of gaining magic resist. On the same note, spending a month doing a holiday event should be enough time to gain your points back in magery. I did not gain a single point spending hours between the thanksgiving turkey event and the snow melting event.

FYI my pets mage was only 93.8 so I was not even trying to get points over a GM skill level.

Can we look into the mechanics, so people dont have to cheat the system to gain skill levels? I would much rather be engaged in the game vs having my char AFK skill farm in my castle day after day.

Between 6:33 AM last Saturday and now I have gained 6.7 points discording my pets and having them attack each other. I have been doing this 24 hours a day minus a brief server restart. It's an absolutely silly means of gaining skill, but there was zero chance of ever gm my pet without doing it this method.

Just an update.

My discord pet accidently died Tuesday night on the 12th of march while I was training. I have been training my discord pet and nightmare 21+ hours every day since. The Discord pet sill has not recovered it's point .1 discord after 105+ hours of game time discording my nightmare. I guess after I finish my nightmare I will need to have a my discord pet fight another discord pet. the good new is my nightmare is slowly making headwind. My nightmare has gain 14.7 point in mage by having it attack a discord pet close to 24/7 since march 9th. hopefully by months end of 24/7 training it will finally be 115 mage.
