Not A Bug Items taking damage from using healing (skill) on players

Is it normal for gear to take damage when using bandages on others or yourself? My VvV talisman (Primary on Arms) was taking damage while healing guildmates for skillgains.

Healing with bandages, casting spells, all cause Antique items to lower, regardless of if on self, a friend, or in battle.
