On OSI if you have SW mastery, you need to swap to that mastery to get a bonus when using an Arcane Circle. If you are set to for example Magery Mastery, you don't get the SW mastery bonus for the Arcane Focus.
But on Heritage you can have a different mastery enabled but still get the SW bonus.
Maybe this is intentional, but it caught me by surprise.
What difference does it make? It saves the waiting time for 20 minutes to switch masteries. Leave it as is! I mean for those of us that still play Heritage it doesn't matter.

Im just adding my 2 cents. here. Don't mess with it. Having to switch masteries to get a circle, and waiting 20 minutes to switch back would be a pain in the ass. It doesn't affect anything here, and is just an inconvenience.
I think you are missing the point Noah - you would NEED the mastery to BENEFIT from the boost. Like necro's cant have skele's without it active. It makes sense (allbeit will make me miss it - oh well)
Right now you can benefit from full screen AOE to clear champs and be able to utilize other masteries (like using deathray on the champ). Pretty sure these "active mastery" dependencies are there to prevent too many OP combinations with masteries (Skele drags, deathray, etc)
Also, as it stands, everyone can obtain a free 6 str from the focus which is kinda lame.
HAVING SAID ALL THAT, according to uo.com, the mastery only reduces the number of "Acanists" required to obtain a focus:
"An Arcanist having the Spellweaving Mastery active is able to cast a lesser focus alone. "
It is the only mention of the mastery on the uo.com wiki, which would suggest to me that we should probably leave it unless @kalel83 wants to provide some evidence showing this effect from an OSI account.
No I did not miss the point. He said that you have to switch to SW mastery to get a bonus.
It is not that way here on Heritage. DUHHHH it has been that way foreverrrrrrr.
On OSI there are also not NPC's on the circle in brit. Are we going to change that too? Heritage has always assisted when it comes to spellweavers because of the lack of players to get the circle/bonus. Why change it now. We have fewer players now then we did 6 months ago. So it doesn't need to change.
My point is, this guy doesn't even play here, yet he constantly points out problems here to get a few sovs. Quit looking for shit to be wrong, and trying to change stuff here. Last I heard he was playing with dew cono on a diff server anyhow.

Read my last edit - I'm not seeing this documented anywhere. I don't want it either. But we CANNOT discourage VALID bug reports cause it pisses off the old fart.
Anyways, further research on uo.com seems to reinforce the idea that the mastery only effects the focus level:
Spellweaving Title: The Mysterious
Spellweaving Masters will receive one bonus Arcane Focus per Spellweaving Mastery level. Arcane Focus still caps at 6 strength bonus. Spellweaving Masters are able to cast Arcane Circle alone but will not receive circle bonuses.

So @kalel83 , IF You really want this change, feel free to provide the evidence and I'm sure it will be considered at some point. HOWEVER, I agree with the point Noah is making (not the way he made it) that I'm not sure a change that makes certain things more tedious is going to take priority over other bugs we need to work on. I'd hate for you to spend time on personally researching this just to prove Noah wrong (although there is merit in that I suppose haha) - which i don't think was your original intent but I know you guys are as friendly as a couple of bucks fighting over a doe so I can imagine the "F/U" factor kicking in at any moment lol.

If he doesn't play here why does he want/need sovs? How did he even DISCOVER the bug in the first place? Why would pointing out inconsistencies with OSI on the the most OSI-Like shard be a problem? Isn't that...like the point of Heritage?
Your point more resembles the dull edge of a spoon...

Like he said, "Maybe this is intentional, but it caught me by surprise."
It caught him by surprise because he was on a diff sever and realized thats not how it is on Heritage.
Im pretty sure that 3 years ago, Dan added the NPC's to the circle in brit because of low pop. Why change that now? Just like, why change the current SW mastery for the entire sever, and create a huge inconvenience to the people who play here so that Kalel can get a pat on the back for pointing out what we already know?
Ya - I think adding those NPC's is a huge deal - if we had some numbers it wouldn't matter so much. But TBH, I could still get lvl 6 since I get 3 alt accounts and just park them - but that isn't an option for some players so I wouldn't dare change this lol.
Also had no idea @kalel83 left the shard - I am guessing he may be off discord to avoid uninvited banter but otherwise I would suspect, that from this post, hes still around

You forget Magus.. for someone to understand something that "Makes Sense" they would have to have some kind of sense, in the 1st place.. arguing with people with NO sense.. is a waste of time.. as you can see from the above post, he is just egging you guys on, to get his rocks off.. ignore and move on.. As i have..
I would agree on Heritage with hardly any people making it nearly impossible to make a lvl 6 focus without alts or something would not be good. But that is not what this is. And having to swap to SW mastery to get a bonus to your Arcane Crystal is annoying if it is on OSI or Heritage. But I still choose to report it. If Dan wants to ignore this bug report for quality of life reasons he can. I am just reporting them, not deciding if they have any merit to implement. But I still care about this shard and want to contribute where I can. I may be taking a break from playing it as I enjoy official servers, but that does not mean I have to abandon it. Dan's shard is still the most complete freeshard for new content that I know about.
So here is video proof on OSI. What you will see below is the following:
With 100.9 Spellweaving I could not even make an Arcane Crystal since Spellwaving Mastery was not enabled at the start.
But after I enabled Spellweaving Mastery, I was able to make an Arcane Crystal by myself (level two in case anyone was curious).

This is not proof. Y OU CANNOT MAKE AN ARCANE CIRCLE ALONE unless you have a mastery.
I am positive if you had other arcanists on that circle, you would get the focus. All the mastery does, as stated on uo.com, is allow an arcanist to make a low level focus by himself, or get +1 per level of the mastery up to 6. So with a lvl 3 mastery the best you could, in theory, get is a lvl 3 focus without other arcanists

I can't test this on TC1 differently as I only have one account. But I will record it happening on Atlantic. The mechanics should be the same. If Dan wants me to test with his account as well on TC1, I can do that.
Will do a new test and update later. Currently too many people are on the Brit Arcane Circle for me to only get a 5 strength, so I have to wait.
So without a mastery at all, you get up to a lvl 4 focus. With each additional level, you get another level, capping at 6. So if you only have a lvl 1 mastery, 5 is your cap.
What happens on OSI/Atlantic can be seen below. The following happens in the video:
With no Spellweaving Mastery enabled and 100.9 SW I cast a lvl 5 focus with other people standing there.
After I enable Spellweaving Mastery II I can cast a lvl 6 focus. This would only happen if what I originally reported was true, unless I am overlooking something.
So you are able to get a focus without the mastery? I thought your OP said that a mastery was required to get a focus? I may have been wrong on the "cap" at lvl 4 without a focus - was pretty sure that was the case but maybe not.

No, you get a stronger focus with mastery enabled. That was my main goal with this thread, if it was conveyed differently that was not my intention.
You can still make one without it enabled/learned if you have another spellweaver around with skill within 20 points of your own. Or you can make it solo with SW Mastery enabled. But you should not be able to make a Arcane Circle alone even with 120 Spellweaving without SW Mastery enabled (just tested this on OSI/TC1 to confirm).
Basically having Spellweaving Mastery enabled adds a bonus to your Arcane Crystal on OSI. On Heritage currently that bonus is applied whether SW Mastery is enabled or not.
I interpreted your original post to suggest that a mastery was required to GET a focus. Rereading I see you said "bonus". haha. Well anyways, i figure a few things are factored: # of arcanists, skill level, mastery

OH HEY, if you use a special arcane circle you also get a bonus.
