Duplicate Add-ons Colored By Special Materials

This is my bed. It used to be the color of HEARTWOOD. I needed to move the bed temporarily, so I re-deeded it. When I placed the bed again, it had reverted to the gray color of NORMAL WOOD. It's my understanding that it's not just beds that this happens to, but other deeded add-ons as well.





I was just going to make a new bed, but Heartwood is a pain in the butt to get, and I don't feel like a player should have to get the resources to re-craft an item in a specific color just because they decided to move it.

When you deed the bed what material does the deed say it was made out of?

Also, if you had to guess, how long ago did you make the first bed?

It doesn't say a material, simply "Large Bed (south.)" It's been at least a year, maybe a year and a half now, since I made the first bed.

There was an issue where old addons did not remember the resource they were crafted from. All old addons are corrupted.

Do me a favor, make the new bed, place it, and let me know after tomorrow's restart if you deed it and it loses its color/Heartwood tag. I'll give you a free heartwood bed for your assistance.

K will do. It will take me at least the next day though. I don't have the resources right now and won't have time to farm them until maybe tomorrow afternoon.

Well here... if you're going to give me a heartwood bed anyway I'll just use a different colored wood that I have more of to test it.

I made an ash bed. The deed itself was the color of ash wood and said the bed was made of ash. It placed as an ash colored bed on the first placement.





Upon re-deeding the bed, the deed itself changed to normal color, but the bed still placed the color of ash on the 2nd and 3rd placement. It looks like there was a fix implemented and I just had a really old bed made of heartwood that reverted to the original color of wood when re-deeded.

I'm curious if it will retain the color AFTER a world restart. Did you make the bed prior to the shard restarting?

Nope. I made it shortly after 6:00 a.m. this morning.

I restarted a few minutes ago.

Could you re-deed and replace it again? Last time.

All is well. Color retained.

 

[Dan]

Okay thanks. The deed should have probably retained its hue so I will look into why the color changed there regardless.

There was a bug a while back but it was sorted out. Any old addons will lose their colors on re-deed and there is nothing we can do about it.
