Suggestions on how to improve the Runic experience

Hello everybody once more, as per Dan's request in the resource gathering post I will be posting here some of the ideas I have to improve a bit the experience on getting runics.
I understand this is going to be a bit controversial, people will agree or won't, we will see about this... but I think we could reach a good way of balancing this system should everybody contribute with proactive ideas.

The main idea is to make these rewards available to everybody with tasks that actually create value / good user experience, moving away from the repetitive actions. These ideas might not go in line with the OSI style direction and I also understand some of these ideas might not be feasible due to Core restrictions...

  1. One idea I have fiddled with in the past is a champ / mini champ randomly located in both Trammel and Fel, in which the rewards instead of PSS are Runics. This way we get active players in some random place in the world fighting for these rewards, these runics might / might not be fully charged.
  2. Introduce a small % of runic drop in monsters / instances already existing in the world... it could be similar to the seasons... and similar to this point we could revamp the current old instances with a token so when you obtain a certain amount you can trade your tokens for a
  3. For those who still like the BODs system... I would modify the Bribe option and introduce a Full LBOD option. Let me explain this, the idea would be to modify the way Bribing works, there are sh*t loads of LBods with little to no value, as a way of sinking gold in the system, I would increase the fee you would pay to bribe the LBOD in exchange for all the small Bods required to fill the LBOD... This way we get to cycle less BODS and bank many more points, we would have to obviously adjust the fees required to get these but it could be an idea to keep the Bod system fresh and alive...
  4. Introduce what I would call the Crafter's quest, I have always thought crafters should be defenceless chars living in Trammel all day, How about a quest in which we bring these brave individuals out of their shops to explore the world... The idea would be to put a quest in which characters would have to protect the NPC while he obtains invaluable resources from certain points in the world, it would require people visiting interesting dungeons that otherwise would not be visited, killing certain monsters otherwise would not be killed and so on... it could be a chain quest or not depending on the reward (which could be runics, or a token to obtain certain runics and so on...)
So far I think most of the stuff require active gameplay rather than doing repetitive actions... let me know what you think and if you have any doubts I could elaborate more on these ideas.

Thank you for reading

1. No - Crafting should be required to obtain Runics.
2. No - Crafting should be required to obtain Runics.
3. eh? Useless LBODs? Dont understand the problem here.
4. ?? !!And what will crafters do on these quests? as they tend to have NO COMBAT SKILLS!! ?? o_O if the quest required you to craft x amount of this, and turn it in and recieve a lower charged RH.. then ok.. makes more sense. But to make a quest to go kill something.. thats something a NON-crafter character can do.. and thats not how runics are meant to be obtained.

5. Plain and simple.. you want more Runics.. want more BOD rewards available? Make resources more available..

I understand your point of view, I've also seen you have one of the biggest vendors available in luna, now let me ask you a question, do you script what you put on your vendor or not?

Because the whole reason why I am posting this is all these systems are monopolised by those who have scripts and I apologise before hand if you do this by hand but my gut is telling me nobody without scripts will do any of this.

My point 4 is a suggestion based on the allowance of 3 accounts we have here, if for instance there was a special reward for mining in Destard surrounded by dragons or skinning with over 100 tailoring would give a special type of leather which could be a quest item... because we can take supporting chars with us... I am not talking about modifying templates but increasing the risk vs reward within crafting itself.

If you think the current system is okay and the only thing we need is more resources available then your problem would be solved by increasing x3 what you get per tile no?

I can farm all I want, I just want to make it more accessible and create a healthy economy.

If I told you, would you believe me?

Complex scripts are cheating... we had a PvP guild quit playing on this server, cuse the latest versions of the game, broke steam.. obviously TOO MANY PEOPLE are dependent on scripts.. I use a last target, current tile.. macro on steam.. and mine in caves, thats it.. I dont lumberjack.. plain and simple, anything that requires wood on my vendors, requires normal wood.. and i can buy that from NPC vendors, all, day, long.. Everything you see, that I own, was done w/o complex scripts.. just the basics, as i said above, I would prefer to BUY my resources from a good supplier, but everyone hordes here..

The Coolest shit about UO, is the fact that you can be a merchant, and never pick up a sword.. and still become a billionaire.. I, like some, prefer that game-play style.. I have tamers, BUT i do not spend near as much time on them, as I do my shop.. why in the hell would i want to take my crafter and my tamer or even just my tamer, into a dungeon to get runic hammers!? that doesn't make much sense..

" I have always thought crafters should be defenceless chars living in Trammel all day, How about a quest in which we bring these brave individuals out of their shops to explore the world... "

Again.. You play your way, Ill play mine, if you want a runic hammer, then make 15 BOD characters and gather bods everyday, and get them.. if you dont want to do that, then go mine, sell me your ore, then use MY MONEY that I gave you for the ore, to buy the runics from me.. this is how it was designed..

If you think the current system is okay and the only thing we need is more resources available then your problem would be solved by increasing x3 what you get per tile no?

I do think the system for obtaining Runics is fine the way it is.. it was hard as hell before "bribing" now its just takes a little determination to get out there and bribe up your bods everyday, and get your runics.. However, something does need to be done about resources.. definatly..

One last thought before I goto bed, if you are going to make runics drop off bosses, or make an item that drops off bosses that can be turned in for a quest to get a runic.. then.. I want to be able to craft 120 (Combat Related) powerscrolls! ;)

I appreciate your input, it's always good to see the other side of the table. Thank you for taking your time and expressing yourself.

Ultimately these are ideas I have, they could be crap ideas or good ideas, it's not my choice to implement them.
