Since you cannot buy gems from the NPC's. how do you 120 imbuing now? I would think that unravelling gains would die out before GM and be painfully slow.

Buy gems from players? With BS you also cannot train it without buying ingots from others.

You can unravel all the way to 120.
Just, after a certain point you will only have a chance to gain from items that will yield a relic fragment. You're going to want to fill like 20 bags worth of 'artifact' items for this process. The Bedlam Crypts is a good place to start filling these bags or swoops if you can ever find a time when it isn't already camped.
