Hi there! I grew up on UO, playing on Lake Superior from 1999-2001ish. I had an animal tamer character that I absolutely loved, along with a crafter.

I'm subscribed to r/ultimaonline on Reddit and saw a thread pop up about this server, so I decided to give it a try! I'm hoping to get my husband into trying out UO as well, since I'm so nostalgic about it and love to reminisce about the good old days on OSI.

I just made my character, Ninde, tonight and I'm hoping to work on raising my animal taming skill... anyone have any tips? Also going to start reading about all the new skills and changes in the game, so I'm really excited! UO was very, very different when I last played.

My characters so far are Ninde and Mae and I'm Mae (Mae#2514) on Discord.

Welcome to Heritage... For taming I advise you to buy some +10 -15 taming jewelry which you can find by using Vendor Search (By single clicking your character in town) and putting it on to get you to 80ish taming - then head off to just north of Delucia in the Lost Lands and tame the bulls and great hinds there until your real skill hits 80 then unequip the jewelry and continue to tame them again until 90 at which point you can buy or quest for a Animal Taming Primer and Mastery book which you can cast the training spells inside to level on up to cap.

Tamers have a ton of options open to them these days as your pets can actually have special abilities "trained" on to them.

Go to any Animal Trainer NPC in game and double click them to find out more information. For completing the quest they offer you will also be rewarded with a unique tile.
