FIXED Casting

As a mage enthusiast for the better part of 2 decades I am probably the most highest qualified person to report this in the history of ultima. The difference is very small / not noticeable for players on higher ping or that dont use mages specifically for pvp. It hit me like a punch in the face. I started running some tests OSI vs Heritage. Here are my findings.

I believe the problem is that uoguide is often updated carelessly or not updated at all. [The player who made it does not play the game anymore for medical reasons.]

1683

Using this example [As it has no target and therefor no human error]

.5s is wrong. It is a 1s spell that only gets to .5s AFTER you add fc2.
To prove that I went to test center and timed a 0fc cast [1s] vs a fc2 cast [.5s]. Then I added recovery and tapped the macro 10 times consecutively to which OSI produced 2 [food]. On heritage the same test yielded 5[food].

My guess is that every spell on heritage that used uoguide as a base could be off.

Happy to conduct more testing, Im going to test the other spell schools when I finally make chars that use them on heritage. Keep up the good work boys!

Yes we care. So basically you are saying all spells cast as if you were FC2 on OSI, here on Heritage, before applying any properties?

Yes exactly

1686

This is where uoguide got their info, which is also wrong. Written under the assumption that "everyone has 2/6 its been 20 years."

1687

If both of these pages were accurate, a miniheal on OSI would literally have zero cast time and zero down time [clearly not true.] The test I did makes it painfully obvious, I have an ea account you guys can use to confirm if you want msg me for details.

We’ve had this discussion. We all feel it’s off. Not by much, but those of us who played mages on EA extensively see a difference. And it’s not just heritage, it’s all RunUO/ServUO servers.

So, to get as close as possible, every spell circle needs to be cast at 0fc with lowest possible ping to server. A good thousand casts would be a good sample size. Get the average. That should be base cast time. Like I said, ping will be an issue and slot it down by milliseconds.

@Dexter I have already been testing other circle spells, they all seem to be exactly .5s slower than listed on uo.com. Bless is listed at 1s, lightning at 1.25. The variation here is human error, me trying to time the watch with the end of the spell. All of these were done without fc.

Example ; Bless Lightning
1.26 1.95
1.4 1.81
1.36 1.83
1.5 1.76
1.55 1.7
1.5 1.83
1.49 1.79
1.6 1.82
1.42 1.82
1.55 1.93
1.42 1.9
1.59 1.82
1.63 1.86
1.52 1.85
1.53 1.92
1.62 1.81
1.49 1.75
1.53 1.76
1.52 1.85
1.65 1.70

______ ___________
1.5065 1.823

I propose popping + .5s on test center and doing a test to confirm, rather than thousands of tests confirming the same time on OSI.

Ah interesting take.

@Dexter I sort of agree here with him. Like you said due to hardware, location, servers, ect we can't get an exact comparison compared to EA. It is too tough.

So since we can't lets try to replicate it on our end, as best as we can, to make it feel more like UO and go from there

Maybe add it to Heritage production for a few days! See what players think in an active environment. We won't get it perfect and peoples opinions will vary but it would still be better than what we currently have.

I think it will be perfect, everything seems to point to runuo/servuo stuff being based on a couple faulty lines from the site! EXCITED.

Edit ; If this test breaks the game is that -5000 sovs? lmao

It would only break it for a week at most. We would just revert the changes.

I’ve aleays agreed. We just needed to do the leg work. How exactly are you timing these?

I was using a stopwatch app on my phone, hitting start and casting the spell simultaneously [or as close as I could get] and attempting to time the end of the spell with hitting the stop button. Thats why the times are a bit random, not ping, just human error.

Yea man there is too much human error for that. I can do it with EasyUO as I did a few years back.

3 or 4 from each circle.

Also all necro spells (well, most) are .25 seconds too fast. Also, found magery spells were casting at a circle below the actual circle. So, a circle 3 spell was casting at a circle 2 speed.
