He is supposed to be Invulnerable until his Generals are killed off.

Also with that error message above his head, are you running the newest UO client?

There were no generals we swept the area like 5 times! Seemingly random hits invul status went away after about 40 minutes.

Yes, I was running the newest client (at the time), however, I noticed there is a new client today. So I haven't tried since then. As Cono said, we swept the entire dungeon for generals.
