There are plenty of super cool robes, hats, shoes, etc in game and many of them are not used because they do not have the proper mods that are actually effective.. lots of us would like the scholoars halo to look like a wizards hat, or perhaps the Shroud of the condemned to look like a Hakama Shita or whatever.

It would add more for people to decorate their characters and get to use some IDs that dont have much of a purpose in game other than for my crafter or 120 banksitter to wear, it would also be an excellent Gold Sink(Dan's Fav).

I feel like adding a permanent NPC that sold these deeds on them could easily be sold for 250-500k... I mean obviously its pricey and not necessary but it gives us something to goal for on our completed or more end game characters.

I love the idea of having a deed to change the look of a piece of armor or weapon.

I just wonder the limits. We cannot dye a monk's robe (wish we could). Could I turn a piece of armor into one? A dyed one? Could I change the look of my spell book into a black one? If not one idea, why another?

Well theres going to have to be limits as by changing the Item ID I believe changes the abilities.. so I doubt weapons will be added to the list, and armors have to be careful with as different types of armors have different benefits. But if were talking cloth hats, cloth robes, shoes-boots-sandals, etc I think that's more what I was aiming for...

As long as it can be changed to the same layer, I don't see an issue. I know what Dan's thinking...Gold sink!

Same layer and so long as it doesnt affect stats. Like bone armor has a hidden Lower Mana cost so changing my scholoars halo to a bone mask might not be doable? Or maybe it is? Idk if just changing the graphic gives it the bonus or not?

I believe certain ItemIDs for equipment are coded as to have their ability based on their ItemID. Not sure about this one.

Thats why you limit it to the layer. Weapons, yes, because then you mess up the special moves, etc.

This sounds amazing. Take the Scholars Halo - the BEST mage item in the game is a bandanna! I would easily pay 300k to have that turned into any other hat (Khal Dhun ?)

I asked this and Dan kicked it off the table cca year ago. Something like transmogrification from WoW.
Did he have Dexter saying it was possible then? Maybe things changed (one can hope).

Instead of changing an itemid. Maybe go along the lines of what Lord Of The Rings online does.. they have a separate paper doll, when you add items to this other paper doll, it only shows the appearance.. and does not use the stats. You get 2 extra paperdolls like this, And they charge you for extra paperdolls past the 2, so you can have multiple outfits, and switch between them

and then you could also sell cosmetic items of all the cool itemids on the UOstore.. ;)

I would imagine making an entirely new interface would be far more work than just Macgyvering a simple solution.

Either way, I would make use of this quite a bit.
