As always, jumping to extremes.

Make a decent argument.
You literally are basing your argument off of being bored of old content and the fact that people wont mandatorily sell you their shit. If I want to sit on my ingots I will and if you dont want to farm your own then that sucks dick. Sounds like a problem with you, not the system. I do just fine on ingots and wood.

K. I don't get all these tangents.

Adding a coloured ingot vendor who sells at high prices will NOT stop/discourage traditional ore mining. It should do the opposite,.

It will not make the game "easier" for lazy people. The people who use the vendor will pay a super-premium which will take alot of gold farming - it essentially provides an alternative to "boring" mining. See Champ Spawns (pvp?) and other gold "blooms".

There are plenty of markets that have substitutes. Substitution is a big factor in economics. You can always gain an edge by DIY methods which will only benefit people who weather the boring mining.

Unattended mining will ruin crafting.....for those who think that is a valid argument...seriously....

Finally, in the apparently likely event that people dont sell ingots, it gives people who dont want to mine another option.
So is the goal to make ingots possible to achieve without touching a pickaxe? If that's cool with everyone then I'll be quiet and we can kill off that part of the game no problem.

How will it kill mining if the NPC vendor has no possible way to compete with an actual miner? Dude, if we had a whole bunch of players who liked mining THIS THREAD WOULDN'T EXIST. There would be no need right?

And if there WERE a bunch of players, the vendor would fall into disuse....

I just don't get how the dislike of something in game is grounds for it to be made easier. Theres lots of shit I dont like but those things make the game difficult and make things have value.

Then again if this is made a thing it wont affect me all that much as I dont sell ingots and I gather my own, I just don't think it's very good reasoning on y'alls end.. it just makes ingots easier for yall to complete bods and sell shit for the same price you do now lol..

That I do get. But mining isn't easier. Seriously, if you have to do a champ spawn to buy a handful of val vs. "mining" it, is it really making things "easier"? Its just providing a gold sink in the form of QOL...which is basically what every current event tries to do.

In reply to Goobers vomiting all over our nice forums.. with all his colorful metaphors, Its not that I dont want to mine...

Most of UOs population are 40+ years old, people who have careers, kids, a family and other responsibilities, as long as OTHER games we like to play.. so time is very valuable.

Currently 1 hour of mining will bring you a piddly assortment of ingots, maybe enough to fill a bod with one color. Not very productive, Now go old school mining, the way mining came out the box.. in an hour of mining, a player who takes the time to go out and mark enough locations.. could net a decent amount of ingots.. and feel that their time has been productive.. and can offer crafted items & bod rewards at a competitive price.. the current system "IMO" does not net enough resources for my time spent.. and pushes the price of what ever its made into, up. Now before you go all bat shit crazy on me, and say "so you should be able to mine enough resources to fill all your bods in 1 hour!" NO! that is just a reference..

Unless you script of course, your computer does all the work.. while you run a champ on your other monitor

I still haven't seen a returning UO player (because most UO players are not new to UO) telling me "you know?, i LOVE mining/lumberjacking".
There will always be people using automining/lumberjacking macros, be it AFK or not. Nobody mines with last object-last target anymore these days.

What about increasing the % chance of colored ingot drops/ wood drops? This way players still have to... well you know, MINE to get ingots and CHOP Wood to get wood? It will still be that same old Mining/Lumberjacking but not as god awful since you have a higher chance at getting better ores and wood? Maybe this could be facet specific so not only in fel do you get double the resource but you have a better chance for the resources you actually need?

I personally think that you should have to mine to get bulk ingots and you should have to chop wood to get wood... I don't understand the new popular argument that "this game is 20 years old and so who wants to do that?" ummm, well this 20 year old game is still the game we all choose to play... so we do a lot of the same shit we've done since we started.

But its not that hard ,right now, to get ingots....run THREE accounts...mine one two (or three) with recall (attended, its not that hard) If you bump up the %, I will still do that, and the market will be flooded with more ingots than anyone will know what to do with.

@xG00BERx i know this isn't a foreign concept to you. :p

this is why I don't understand why everyone is all worked up about it... I don't know whats the issue with it all is? Theres plenty of automated recall mining scripts...

I believe the main issue is that we don't have a good way to for sellers and buyers to gauge the market on commodities. I think the best solution to a lot of the problems on a shard this size is to have a commodity exchange. I know UO players hate the idea of auctions houses, but vendor search and the commodity brokers are just a bad version of one. Being for commodities only would still allow Luna houses to hold real estate value for vendor shops.

My only experience, which I loved, with commodity exchanges were from Wildstar. There may have been other games that had something similar and may have done it better, but this was the only one I had any experience with.

Reddit Post on Wildstar CX

(Sorry there were better videos when the game started, but this is the only one I could find)

Well the players have spoken.

As of now we won't be doing anything in regards to resources.

What is the pop of that server?
Not sure tbh. But its decently big for a free server.

So obviously the more competition the prices get drove down but throwing shit loads of afk bots into the mix drives them down even further... the crazy part is they use the old BOD system and toss tons of useless bods out the window where as we have the new point system which makes every bod useful + the bribing or trading bod system

So going to do a little social/economical experiment.

For the next 30 days the Miner NPC will sell dull copper ingots for 125gp per. I just want to see what this little change does, if anything.
