This is a fix for users who run a x64 bit operating system. It can work with a x86 system, but you will have to follow more in depth instructions alloted in the link I placed at the bottom of this post.

A work around I found out about and have had great success with so far is using a program called Large Address Aware. Essentially what this program does is allow the executable for UO to access 4 gigs of ram instead of 2 gigs. The website I will link will have great instructions on how to use this program, however I will go ahead and do a recap for it. If the download links do not work, you can get them from the website link at the end of this post.

Download the program by clicking this link laa_2_0_4.zip
If you get an error, or know you do not already have microsoft .Netframework 3.5 or higher, then you can obtain it from this link laa_2_0_4_NetFrame, or by going to microsofts website and downloading the latest version.

Once you've downloaded Large address aware, you will need a program such as Winrar to unzip the file, Where you place the unzipped file does not matter, however I suggest you make it it's own folder in your documents folder for later use, and so it can save profile settings.

Open Large address aware and you will be prompted with a small screen as follows
basic.png

From here you will need to click the box labeled ... and locate your folder for Ultima online, find Client.exe and select Open.
Secondly place a checkmark in the box under step 2, this will allow the program to access 4gigs of ram instead of the default 2 gigs.
Hit save, and you're done!

For more in-depth information or how to use the "Advanced" Mode you can check out this link, https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/large-address-aware.112556/
